While a concrete subfloor may cause some concern when it comes to removing adhesives the material is tough enough to take on commercial cleaners and sanders that will help expedite the removal process.
Start by scraping the glue with a pry bar or scraper.
For stubborn tiles in a large area a tile stripper is your best choice.
Apply enough force to pull it up.
Tile strippers can be rented from rental centers and some home supply stores.
Cut and pull up the vinyl in narrow strips to reveal the glue.
Do the same after 10 years and i assure you you will lose your temper.
Removing vinyl from concrete is similar to removing it from subfloor.
Work the chisel under the tiles forcing them loose.
Cover the ice with a towel or two to insulate it.
If that doesn t get the glue off you will need to use a commercial adhesive stripper to soften and remove the glue.
You can also use a heat gun to heat the tiles.
This is probably the easiest type of subfloor to get linoleum or vinyl off of but it s still no picnic.
If difficult try a heat gun to soften it and then pull it off.
Pull the linoleum up in strips to reveal the linoleum glue.
Firstly pry up a corner of the tiles with a putty knife.
Strike the face of stubborn tiles to break them up for easier removal.
While wearing insulating gloves arrange the chunks of dry ice on top of the paper to cover the offending tile.
If removal is more difficult use a heat gun to soften the adhesive.
Tear off a piece of waxed paper or parchment paper large enough to cover a tile and overhang an inch or two on each side.
Work the chisel between the tiles and the concrete hammering them up with a 2 lb.
However getting the adhesive off the concrete may prove to be more difficult.
Cut it into strips about 6 inches wide.
Masonry chisel and a 2 lb.
Use a 3 4 or 1 in.
Try to take out your vinyl pasted tiles after 6 months and cleaning the vinyl off will be a breeze.
