I went my own direction on this and i am glad i did because it was very easy to do the way i did it.

3 you should now be able the pull the lock mechanism out. The assembly was warm to the touch when i removed it and the black plastic was very pliable. The torx fastener will not come out completely or fall into the door because it has a retainer clip which holds it in place. 1 open the door and remove the black plastic plug on the door jamb.

2 loosen the gold colored torx fastener that is behind the plug by using a 30 torx bit. This is a quick video on how to plasti dip the side mirrors on the fj. I twist and disengage the 2 clips on the lower side of the mirror. J while holding the mirror with the screwdriver disengage the 4 clips and 2 claws on the upper side of the mirror and remove the mirror.

With some tips on how i apply it and prep area. This allows me to use the stock mirror mount trim which just snaps onto the new machined block to give the install a clean look. Heating the mirror holder with a domestic dryer before this procedure makes the work easier. They are on ebay right now.

I do not want to take the entire mirror assembly off just the glass. This bulb is a 194 wedge buld that i need to replace as it is burnt out.
